Once upon a time, all the animals used to talk to the people, and all the people could hear them. And once upon a time, the animals were considered sacred teachers, and messengers for the Great Mystery. So the people respected them and listened to what they said.
But gradually, over many, many years, things changed. Instead of communicating with thoughts, people started to communicate using their voices and written words. Eventually, there was so much talking and so many written words that the people were no longer able to hear the soft whispers of the animals.
In writing this journal, I hope to give the animals a voice once again and allow their words be heard by whoever cares to read them. The animals can still communicate with us, and we still have the abilty to hear them and communicate back. We have just forgotten how. They have much to say, much to teach us. All that is needed to start is an open mind.
